Lead is delighted to be re-accredited with the quality standard, Investing in Volunteers (IiV).   Many thanks are due to the steering group of 3 volunteers, 3 staff and Board Members who got to grips with the process to prepare Lead for the assessment!

Investing in Volunteers (IiV) is the UK quality standard recognising good practice in organisations’ volunteer management. The Investing in Volunteers quality standard is managed in Scotland through Volunteer Development Scotland.

“Congratulations to Lead Scotland who are trailblazers again as one of the first organisations in Scotland to renew their Investing in Volunteers Award. It’s in Lead Scotland’s DNA to ensure they achieve the best they can for their volunteers and it’s no surprise to me that they have received this renewed recognition for the quality of their volunteers management.” George Thomson, CEO, Volunteer Development Scotland.

Penny Brodie, Lead’s Director said, “We decided to pursue the award to benchmark our organisation’s volunteering practices against national standards.  The steering group rigorously reviewed our practice in every area from recruitment and selection to support, training, and closure.  We are confident that IiV will help us compete for volunteers and development funding in an increasingly competitive market.”

Why did we choose this Quality Standard?

We want new and existing volunteers, members, staff, Board Members, partners and funders to know that we are committed to giving volunteers a good experience as well as enriching Lead's services.   It also gave us an opportunity to benchmark our practice against national UK standards of volunteer management and involvement.

Current developments for Lead volunteers

We are developing a password protected online facility for volunteers to download resources, forms, participate in online training, share ideas, comment on policies and developments, etc.

We are exploring the possibility of credit rating some of Lead's volunteer training opportunities.

Lead was delighted to receive a grant for volunteer development from the Scottish Business Achievement Award Trust to meet the cost of the process.

In December 2005, Lead Scotland was delighted to become the 2nd Scottish organisation to receive the UK quality standard, Investing in Volunteers (IiV).
