Access a computer independently

Jack wanted to develop his song writing interests using ICT as a tool.  He had relied on having scribes and was therefore dependent on others to express his thoughts in writing.  Not helpful if you want to write spontaneously or privately!

Supported by a Lead Learning Co-ordinator, Jack communicated remotely, via computer, with an assessor to answer questions about his capabilities and challenges in using a computer.

It was initially suggested that an infra red mouse pointer and a different type of mouse might enable him to independently access a computer.  Jack tried different types of equipment until he found which was the most effective.

Jack's goal is to independently use this equipment to write when inspiration strikes.

The Learning Co-ordinator had a crucial role in organising and facilitating the assessment and ongoing support.
