SQA consultation on reasonable adjustments for disabled candidates in National Qualifications

The consultation only relates to non-vocational National Qualifications as there is a specific duty to make reasonable adjustments for these qualifications under the Equality Act. The consultation points out that reasonable adjustments during exams will be made where necessary, except in cases where the meaning and value of the qualification would be compromised. Rather than listing examples of reasonable adjustments, the consultation sets out a list of reasonable adjustments which it believes would not be considered reasonable under any circumstances. However, SQA point out that it will still make decisions on what adjustments will be made available on an individual basis.
