East Lothian Employability

What can the project offer me or someone I am working with?

Lead Scotland provides a personalised, non-judgemental employability support service for adult residents 16+ in East Lothian. The service supports individuals who need help preparing for employment, finding a job or staying in work.

Our aim is to provide tailored support to individuals looking to develop core employability skills. This free and confidential service includes informal and formal learning opportunities that can lead to SCQF accreditation.

Examples of skills include:

  • Confidence building
  • Transition activities (such as support to go into college, work, or volunteering)
  • Core skills (literacy, numeracy, CV preparation, interview preparation, digital skills)
  • Travel training
  • Job search help
  • Adult Achievement Awards (SCQF levels 2-6)
  • SQA accredited units (SCQF levels 2-4)

Alongside personalised one-to-one support that can be at home or within the community, we offer group sessions that build confidence, develop key skills, and enhance overall wellbeing. These sessions help boost self-esteem, resilience, and a positive mindset—key to progress in other areas of life.

Our service also includes training in cyber security and internet safety, supporting individuals to navigate the digital world with confidence. We help develop core skills such as literacy and numeracy and offer practical travel training to promote independence and access to work or learning.

Additionally, we provide support with CVs and cover letters, helping individuals present their strengths and move forward with confidence.
