Lead’s next empowerment meeting is in Kirkcaldy

Come along and help us celebrate our 40th anniversary, have afternoon tea and learn something new! In Fife the topic is participatory budgeting and we will be in St Brycedale Church, St Brycedale Ave, Kirkcaldy KY1 1ET on 28th March, 2019 between 1pm and 3pm. Register to tell us you are coming and share your access or dietary requirements.

In 2018, we supported 22 disabled people in Fife to give feedback to the Scottish Government during the Democracy Matters consultation period.  No one had heard of participatory budgeting before but people thought it was a good idea and wanted to find out more.  So we are inviting a member of Fife Council to our birthday party event to talk about participatory budgeting and they will run a taster session so that you can ask questions and get to grips with the idea. Glasgow Disability Alliance have created an excellent video which shows some of the barriers which make it difficult for disabled people to get involved in participatory budgeting and importantly what the solutions are.
