Working with or providing services for disabled people and carers?
How well are you enabling your stakeholders to access your services on the web?
Lead Scotland’s paperless and remotely delivered Thinking Digitally course introduces you to an effective use of the web and web-based tools for finding and sharing information and knowledge. One hour a week guided learning online together with a few hours offline self-guided work for 10 weeks helps you to understand how you and your organisation can engage effectively with your customers and service users in a digital landscape.
You may be looking to enhance your team’s digital skills, develop your own skills or grow your organisation’s ability to create an inclusive online presence.
Lead Scotland’s Thinking Digitally course offers a guided, online, group learning environment with one to one support to help you meet your outcomes.
Once you have defined your course learning plan with our Learning Coordinator, you will choose online tools with which to produce a digital artifact. You will learn how to blend a mixture of text, images, audio/video materials and web links.
You will learn about online accessibility, cyber resilience, inclusion and try out many online tools for effective communication and collaboration with your customers or service users.
Finally, you will use an e-portfolio to host your work.
As you finish the course you will have developed a deeper understanding of how a diverse range of people can and do access online services and, more importantly, what barriers might exist in your own online presence.
For organisations taking part in our Thinking Digitally course, we expect outcomes to include:
Increased organisational confidence
Increased understanding of digital accessibility issues in services
Increased confidence in dealing with digital access enquiries from disabled people
What have previous learners said about this course?
“Do it! I have gained lots of knowledge and skills on the digital tools out there, free (mostly) for us to use. Above all, I have enjoyed the weekly meetings with the other participants and realise that everyone is on a continual learning journey. The content and tone of the course were spot on and tutor was always encouraging.”
“ACTIVE not passive learning like ECDL because you can pick the tools you use”
“It’s a good feeling making LIVE digital artifacts which can be useful to other people”
“For anyone that has basic digital skills and wants to try out new tools, this is the course for them.”
